EXTRA! EXTRA!
One way we are committed in providing the highest level of customer service to our accounts is by including a shipping evaluation form in your shipments. While we don't expect you to fill out each and every one you receive, they are included in each shipment as a convenience to you. All comments are appreciated and welcomed. It's always nice to hear that we are doing a great job, but it's necessary to hear when improvements are needed. Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to fill one out. If you haven't, what are you waiting for? We'd love to hear from you.

How long have you used Emery-Pratt as a book vendor?
I think we began ordering from Emery-Pratt in 1990.
Why did you decide to order from us?
Originally we chose Emery-Pratt for ordering for our branch library, so that the orders/bills for the branch would not get mixed up with main's orders and billing.
Is there one service we offer that you find is of great value?
One of your greatest assets is your staff. Every encounter I have with E-P staff is enjoyable. They all smile while talking to me, and make me feel good after the encounter. Of course, the reason they call or email is to straighten out an error on my part. What a great service for us. It is so nice to know someone can catch my mistakes, and not make me feel stupid!
I am glad that you send acknowledgment slips as there are so many staff members who check to see if a title has been ordered/shipped, and can do so without getting into a computer. Another great service is the notification of duplicate ordering. I would like to see duplication notification for a year, as it takes out library so long to get materials catalogued. I have often asked if we could have some of your staff her in Danville for awhile...like an exchange program...I am sure they would help get us out from under the backlog.
I also try to check the ship list at least twice a week, so I can look just at the 3 day-change list. It's nice not to have to go through all shipped titles.
All-in-all, your company's customer service is the best I have dealt with, and I do not mind telling some of the other company's who try to woo us away from you, why I deal with E-P. Free shipping, and 42% discount is one reason the city likes you, and the small amount of processing we have you do for us is cheaper than some of the “other” vendors I just checked. Every few years we have to do some comparison shopping just to justify our vendors.
Any other comments?
Please keep up the good work, customer service is our first impression of anyone, and you have everyone else beat! Again, thanks for all you do to make our ordering a pleasure.
IN THE SPOTLIGHT
In this issue of our newsletter we would like to introduce you to Dennis Miller. Dennis was first employed at Emery-Pratt from 1973-1994, and then again from 2004 until the present. Dennis is our Account Manager for the State of Pennsylvania.

Dennis enjoys both participating in and watching sports—just ask him about the Pittsburgh Steelers and you will have his full attention! He also enjoys lawn and gardening, restoring antique furniture, and light construction and building work. His favorite books include the Bible, Barclay's Daily Bible Study Commentaries, and Playing the Game by Sheard and Armstrong.
Dennis is married to Donna Miller and they have four children: David, Bethany, Destiny, and Andrew. They also have five grandchildren who they enjoy spending time with.
Dennis's co-workers comment that he is a man that shows care and concern for his customers, friends, and family.
Emery-Pratt would like to thank Denny for his incredible level of commitment and dedication to the company. We hope you enjoyed meeting another one of our top-notch employees!

Did You Know
Year end has come and gone. You can finally relax with the start of a new fiscal year and a new budget. But keep in mind that year end will come again and there may be a way that we can help you encumber your funds so you don not lose those dollars at the end of the year.
Emery-Pratt offers Pro-Forma invoicing in several different formats, any of which may meet your needs and allow you to get your funds spent so that the dollars are not lost due to the material not being available by year end. We can provide very broad Pro-Formas for "books on order" or can provide specific wording such as "Sole Source Library Purchases" or "Books for Library Collections". These invoices would have a specific amount that you specify. We can also offer Pro-Formas that list every title you have that remains active on your account at the time the invoice is printed and we can provide you with estimated pricing of your remaining open orders (not including applicable discounts) for a total. These! invoices can be separated by purchase order or fund if you have a preference.
So when year end is creeping up and you start to think about all the ordering you need to rush to do, stop and consider if a Pro-Forma might meet your needs and contact us to see if we can help!

Keeping Cool
What happens if you don't drink enough water on these hot July and August days? You can lose concentration, endurance, coordination, and strength. So please, take some time out for plenty of cold water! And don't forget your fruits and vegetables as these foods are high in water content! Pets need cool water too so please remember to have it available for them—especially during the hottest hours of the day!
YOUR COMMENTS
"I want to say how wonderful I and my staff think your company is. In this day and age, so few companies even begin to provide the kind of personal service that we have come to expect from you. I can't even express what it means to us to have a real person answer the phone—invaluable! And I especially want to say how much I've appreciated our rep, Alan Tripp. For years he's stopped in with friendly greetings even though we weren't ordering form you. In fact it was because of Alan that when I was looking for a new vendor that I decided to use Emery-Pratt. We've been so pleased with that decision ever since. We have been pleased with all your staff—helpful, friendly, personable. Many thanks for the outstanding service. "

"Your Customer Service girls are awesome! Veronica has been helping with my end-of-the-year orders/shipments. Rhonda always responds quickly to my questions regarding my Order Report. Sally is great at tracking down the status on the hard-to-find titles. Jane Benjamin is always right on “top” of my standing orders. Arlene is always 'extremely polite'. I have really enjoyed working with your company. Emery-Pratt is my favorite vendor!!

What does the 4th of July mean to you?
This year as you celebrate the fourth of July, whether it be with parades, fireworks, or backyard barbecues, we hope you take time to remember how fortunate we are as a nation. May each and everyone of you have a great holiday!
Every year our family looks forward to this holiday because it means “VACATION TIME.” We go to the Upper Peninsula with my husband Scott's whole family—aunts, uncles, cousins and their children, parents, and our children. We go to a park located in Brevort, Michigan and we take our boats, campers, and tents. It may sound boring to some but it is a lot of fun-filled days. We go to Lake Michigan and swim, build sandcastles with the younger children, we fish, and sometimes we go tubbing across Lake Brevort. The young children really enjoy this part of the vacation and the adults can act like they are kids. At night we have campfire songs that we get the children involved in while the adults play card games. Our family has done this for almost twenty years now.

The Fourth of July to me means a time to celebrate the freedom of our great country and to be glad that I am a part of a nation that provides everyone an equal chance to choose their livelihood and to succeed.
